The Scattered Artist's Tour 2026 was a huge success. Thank you to all of you who attended the tour and supported our local artists, including myself. Besides the art, the beautiful day and the spectacular yards of the hosts ensured a full and successful weekend.
I recently hosted our first paint and sip event, "Abstract Art in the Garden". Participants completed an abstract art piece, each unique and original, using acrylic paint on canvas. Their original art was presented and preserved in a variety of ways: unique original art bookmarks, a special original art card, and original art set of coasters. A lovely way to spend an afternoon with the special friends or family in your life. Contact me for more information if you are interested in booking an "Abstract Art" Afternoon Paint and Sip in the Garden More information in the Services Offered Section of the Website.

Artist Tip: Spraying your canvas with a little water first and spreading the acrylic paint with a sponge or cloth will give it a smoother finish. Great for larger canvas coverage.

I find myself constantly learning about myself as an artist. I tend to break a lot of rules. In breaking some of those painting rules I have discovered that it somewhat defines me and my art. As well, it creates a unique style I can call my own. So go ahead and don't worry if you break a few rules - you might love the results!
I am working on boards again lately and reminding myself how much I enjoy what the wood does and how much it leads my process. Having a good time following the lead and being fascinated by how the wood adds its own brush to my work. Lots more gnome doors in the studio - all lovingly crafted, magical and mysterious and each with an inspirational saying behind the opening door. Come on by. If the sign is out Visitors are Welcome!

Had a wonderful day at the Moss St. Market chatting about art and enjoying the conversations. That was the last market of the season for me, but you can find me in my studio, "In the Woods" on Brookleigh Rd and Bear Hill Rd. Stop in for a visit.
The Four Friends art show is about to open aSept. 4th t The Artsea Gallery in Sidney. Four wonderful local artists.
The Saanich Fair is this long weekend. Don't forget to drop in to the Art display (show and sale) I will be showing 6 pieces in the show along with many other local artists. I have recently added to my custom, handprinted and uniquely designed earrings. These featherlight wood earrings are a favourite. Come by and see what I have added to the collection for fun Halloween, or Orange Shirt Day earrings. Painting earrings is always an enlightening experience as they are always a surprise ending. The inks do their own thing and I work with it. The paint on such a small item is a challenge that also often leads to a change in plan. It never ceases to amaze me how what feels like a big "Oops" turns out to be uniquely perfect.
